Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam has released a recruitment notification for the recruitment of 200 Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and its allied cadre posts under the Directorate of A.H. & Vety, Deptt. Assam, Guwahati-3. Cadidates having HSSLC (Science) passed with Biology subject can apply for these posts.

Scale of Pay: Pay Band of Rs. 14,000/- 70,000/ + Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200/- plus other allowances as admissible from time to time.
Eligibility Criteria of Assam Veterinary Recruitment
Citizenship: The candidate must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and must be a permanent resident of the State of Assam. As proof of domicile, the candidate must upload a copy of a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes.
Age Limit
Age of the candidates should not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age as on 01.01.2026 . Candidates may note that the age of the candidates will be calculated on the basis of the HSLC Pass Certificate/HSLC Admit Card/Certificate issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council where age/date of birth is clearly reflected. No other documents shall be accepted in lieu thereof for the purpose.
Age Relaxation: Permissible relaxations in upper age limit for different categories are as under:
SC / ST: 5 years
OBC-NCL: 3 years
PwBD: 10 years
Ex-serviceman: 2 years
Caste Certificate: Candidates seeking reservation under SC, ST, OBC or MOBC must upload a caste certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of Assam, clearly indicating the caste, the order under which it is recognized, and the candidate’s village or town of residence.
PwBD Eligibility: Candidates applying under the PwBD category must possess a Benchmark Disability of 40% or more and must produce a certificate issued by the competent authority.
Ex-Servicemen Requirement: Ex-Servicemen candidates must upload their Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam, along with the Discharge Book, while applying for the reserved post.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates need to pass HSSLC (Science) with Biology as a subject from any recognized Board/ Council/University.
Application Fee:
There is no application fee for candidates belonging to any category. Candidates can submit their online applications free of cost.
Selection Process:
To select eligible candidates for recruitment to the post of Veterinary Field Assistant or an equivalent post, an OMR-based written examination will be conducted. The exam will have a duration of 120 minutes and will carry 100 marks, consisting of 100 questions covering the following subjects:
1 Biology: 40 Marks
2 Chemistry: 20 Marks
3 Physics: 20 Marks
4 General Awareness: 20 Marks
The standard of questions will be of HSSLC (Science) level.
Mandatory One Year Training:
Selected candidates will be required to undergo one year of mandatory training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, or its extended campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the training before they can be appointed to the post.
