Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is a public technical and research university established by the Government of India, located in Guwahati, in the state of Assam in India. It is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India. IIT Guwahati is officially recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the government of India. IIT Guwahati has been ranked 7th both in Engineering and Overall category in NIRF India Rankings 2020, released on 11th June 2020.

Meanwhile, out of 584 B.Tech and B.Des students, 444 of them got job offers during the placement program.
A total of 140 companies participated in the recruitment drive. The maximum offers were made from the information technology and software sector.
According to the placement report, students from Computer Science and Engineering got the highest number of offers, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
The head of IIT Guwahati Centre for Career Development, Abhishek Kumar said, "The average package received by the students this year increased compared to Rs 20.62 per annum in the preceding year, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
