Assam Govt To Give Rs 100 Every Day To Girl Students To Attend School
The Assam government is planning to provide financial incentives to school and college girl students so that they attend classes regularly.
Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa sarma on Sunday said that girl students will soon get Rs 100 for every day they attend schools.
“We had planned this last year itself but could not implement it because of the spread of COVID19. We wanted to pay money for attending classes in both schools and colleges,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said so that the students can use the money to buy books,”Sarma added.
The minister said an amount of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 will be deposited to the bank accounts of undergraduate and postgraduate students respectively by the end of January to help them buy books and other study material. The two financial incentive schemes were originally planned for launch last year but had to be deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic,We want boys and girls to enjoy the same kind of care. Many parents marry off their daughters early, thinking that their sons would take care of them. This mindset needs to change Sarma said.
The Assam state government will provide scooters to all girl students who passed in the first division from the state board even if the number crosses a lakh, he said. Scooters will also be provided to all girl students who passed Class 12 examination in the first division in 2018 and 2019.
